Corner Bakery

That day, we went to Mabolo to look for dish plates for our new business with a friend. While walking along F. Cabahug St., we saw a signage for this restaurant. So HappySlippers will once again take you to this food adventure that you will surely love.

Corner Bakery's Facade
Corner Bakery looks like just a simple village bakery, located inside Villa Aurora Subdivision. And we thought that it's just gonna be an ordinary bakery. But they proved us wrong. The moment we entered into their cute shop, we were amazed by the wide variety of food they offer. YES, FOOD!

Counter
Corner Bakery offers breads, cupcakes, and some home made dishes like "humba", lasagna and burgers. They have tables and chairs for dine in customers, so you get to enjoy the ambiance of this shop.

Cupcakes
They offer cupcakes for lesser prices. Their cupcakes taste great and they're only for 40.00 pesos. One should never forget to try their blueberry cupcake. It's my personal favorite.

Lasagna
Their Lasagna is THE BEST IN TOWN! Corner Bakery's Lasagna is WAY BETTER THAN Greenwich's Lasagna. And you gotta try it yourself. And if you think I'm wrong, IM GONNA APOLOGIZE PUBLICLY. kidding! You can still taste the tomato pulps on their sauce, it's topped with a cheese melt, baked which made the dish so tender. It's served with their bread of the day.

Soy Braised Pork - "Humba"
And since I'm a meat lover, Pork Lover that is, I tried their version of Soy Braised Pork, commonly known as Humba in Cebu. And I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The meat was so tender and even the soft bones too. It's served with rice and each serving has three cuts of belly meat. What I like about this dish is that it tastes very traditional. Actually, like how the Humbas at the provinces taste. It's not even starchy. Just pure soy sauce. So mouthwatering.

Corner Bakery's Exteriors
It was one of the most fulfilling journey of HappySlippers. I cannot think of any negative comments for this shop. Its price is very affordable, the place is very nice, the crews and the security guard are very warm, the food is very GREAT! So if you want to go underground, and try some of the secret jewels of Cebu, you gotta try Corner Bakery.

One Claypot House

Hi there fellow foodies! HappySlippers will once again feature a cool restau in the Metro, OneClaypotHouse.

Located within the vicinity of Cebu Provincial Capitol, OneClaypotHouse hailed itself to be a cozy, elaborate, and exquisite food venue in Cebu.

OneClaypotHouse's Facade
OneClaypotHouse offers Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai and of course, Filipino taste in just one venue. And now, it's time to try their pride, the Claypot.

Lah-lah-lah Claypot Served Hot
This dish is their best seller, Lah-lah-lah Claypot, served in an actual claypot. It's a mix of rice (slimy i don't know why), pork, chicken, and cabbage topped with hard boiled egg. They serve this dish so hot that they even have crews standing by to stir the food right after serving to avoid it from getting over cooked. We went for the Medium sized and it was fair enough for two people. It's so delicious. They said it is a Singaporean dish and so that explains the taste. I was hesitant about ordering it at first but since it was their best seller, I gave it a shot and I was not disappointed.

Pork Chop
And for a Filipino twist, we ordered a slice of Pork Chop. It was a bit oily and the taste was bland. I don't know why. Lucky for us because we ordered for another dish, otherwise, ;).

Interiors
What's amazing about OneClaypotHouse is that they have a good set of interiors. The place is too small but they were able to arrange it in a manner that it still contains its coziness and style. The chandeliers were amazing. The wall arts were carefully hand crafted. And the style was awesome. The place so compliments the food and it was like eating outside the Philippines.

So if you're looking for a totally different kind of food trip, visit OneClaypotHouse. The price is so affordable. You wouldn't even think that it's that cheap.

Omelet Bistro

It's time for another HappySlippers food trip. And this time, it's gonna be a low-priced eating experience. HappySlippers will gonna prove to you that comfort is not just about the price.

When you're at midtown Cebu,  you must not forget to try Omelet Bistro. Omelet Bistro an Italian Restau which is located along Gen. Maxilom Avenue. They are right across Mango Park Hotel.

Since it's lunch, let's some rice-based meals on their menu. First up is pasta. I tried their Meat Tomato Pasta Pork.
It has fresh tomato slices which made the dish flavorful. The serving comes with a slice of their choice of bread. I like the pork chunks. One tip, add a bit of pepper to enjoy the dish more.

Next one is kinda bit interesting for me. The name it is. An order of Lebanese Chicken over a medley of cinammoned rice, beans and nuts. How's that sounds to you.
I could not appreciate the nuts being mixed with your rice. Although the dish was good, but too much of contrasting flavors make the taste of the dish confusing.

Their price ranges in between P80.00 - P100.00 and their restaurant is cool. For more info, you can visit them.

Simply J's

So I'm starving again. And it's another time for food hunting with HappySlippers.

Last time we went out was with Sweet Little Things for some cupcake tryouts. Now, it's time for some "Good Real Food" hangout. And since were just in Lahug, a nearby restau is off to be tried. Simply J's.

Simply J's is located just across the newly constructed Quest Hotel. Simply J's is a mid-class dining experience that I have never thought to be that price-worthy. It offers a relaxing ambiance to its customers who are in tune for a value-for money eating experience.
To start, I opt for a Garden Salad. Though the vinaigrette was not that sour, the serving was abundant.
Now, it's time for their best seller. Simply J's Signature Baby Back Ribs. It's so tender, it's so juicy and by far, it's the best ever back ribs in town. Yes, beating Casa's. The price, so worth it. It only costs Php 200.00.

Simply J's also offers other mouth watering meals from Veggies to Chicken to Pork. They are open during lunch and resumes operations for dinner.

Sweet Little Things

Who likes some cupcakes?!

Cupcakes. It has become the latest craze in Cebu City. And HappySlippers went ahead to checkout this cool cupcake shop in nearby Ayala, SLT (Sweet Little Things)

SLT opens from 11 in the morning until 10 in the evening. It's located at the Ground Floor of J Block Building, Apitong St. corner Escario St. Cebu City. They're a block ahead of Parklane Hotel if you're coming from Escario St.

SLT offers a wide variety of cupcakes ranging Chocolates to Fruits. Yes, FRUIT CUPCAKES. But here's what makes it more than a great cupcake shop. THE PRICE. Each cupcake costs you only Php 50.00.

So I tried a box of three. And my selections were Lemon Poppyseed, Triple Chocolate and Red Velvet. The taste, indescribable. All of them taste great! And so I purchased another box of three for my partner.

Sad thing was that it was too late for me to know about there best seller, The Flourless Mudpie. I went back just to check it out. And they're right. The best-tasting mudpie I have ever tasted.

So go ahead and check them out! Happy eating!
